How to Save Big on Wedding Flowers!
Wedding flowers are one of the most important elements of your big day. Your & your bridal party's bouquets and boutonnieres will be in all your pictures. Your centerpieces are "the wow" factor of your ceremony & reception room. I have done both big wedding with a large budget and small weddings with a very tight budget. Here are a few tips that I give to any bride.
1- Always Assign Budget for Flowers!
No matter how small your budget is,leave some budget for flowers. The day before wedding you have enough in your plate and flower arrangement is the last thing you want to do.Unless you are a trained florist ,and have access to industrial cooler DO NOT risk doing the flowers yourself. I had a bride with a very tight budget who decided to buy flowers from me and do the arrangements herself. Not only the centerpieces were giant eyesores , they all died over night. She called me 6 am on my cell , crying and asking for help. Luckily, the ceremony was in the evening and since it was a small wedding, I had enough flowers at my cooler.
2- Book Your Florist Early
You can save a lot of money by booking your florist early. The florist gives you the quote based on today's market price. So if you are wedding is in 6 months or a year you are paying today's price no matter how much prices increases in 6 months or a year.
3- A Smart Florist Can Help You Save Big Time!
- Tell your florist about your budget, and have her/him recommend the most inexpensive flowers.
4- And my final tips are :
- Choose blooms that are in season (for your wedding date) and/or locally grown.
- Ask your florist how the flowers can be used for both ceremony and reception sites.
- Avoid holding your wedding on major event days such as Valentine's Day , Mother's Day, Christmas.
