Kirstie and Jeff Something Blue Wedding
Josh Bowie is one of our favorite photographers. He is not only an incredible photographer but he is also such a great guy and a dream to work with. Here is the reblog from his blog :)
I started my day with Kirstie and her crew at the Sheraton Wall Centre, in downtown Vancouver. There was such a nice atmosphere as they got ready; relaxed, but excited and in the moment. The girls from Mink were doing the hair and makeup, and did an excellent job.
Once the guys were finished getting ready, they met us at the hotel for a “first look”. Kirstie was taunting Jeff and drew out the suspense of the moment. It was both playful and intimate.
With a few minutes to spare, the guys headed upstairs to drop off a few things. While we were waiting, a huge crowd had formed at the entrance to the hotel, hoping to catch a glimpse of a well-known boy-band. We seized the moment to get some spontaneous and memorable photos of Kirstie being mobbed by her fans! The young girls were hollering and wanting autographs from Kirstie, it was perfect. Jeff came out of the hotel to find Kirstie signing autographs! He joined in on the fun and fan-fare. We never got to see the boy band….
For portraits with the bridal party we headed downtown. The sun was blazing, which can be challenging for photos, but we managed to get some beautiful shots. The atmosphere was fun and energized, but also relaxed. As a photographer, I allow couples and their friends to be themselves. I try to set the stage and then allow them to shine. I give as much direction as needed, without interfering too much, or stifling their personality. It is a dance and fluid process to getting great photos; a cookie cutter approach doesn’t really work.
The ceremony was held at Canadian Memorial Church. We did some family photos afterwards and from there we headed to Jericho Beach, for a few more group photos. We got some really nice shots of the bridal party with Kirstie and Jeff, as well as more group shots of everyone together.
From there we walked to the Royal Vancouver Yacht Club, made a grand entrance and began the reception! The Yacht Club looked fantastic, with beautiful floral pieces by Sunflower Florist. Sunflower Florist is one of my favorites and always does an incredible job with the flowers! Highlights of the reception were some fun games, great speeches and lots of dancing! Beyond Sound had everyone on the dance floor and really got the party going. I had a photo booth set up, which produced some fun shots, and the evening was capped-off by the fireworks.
A big thanks to Candice at A Day to Remember for all of her hard work in coordinating the day!
